Zefferellis – Ambleside a whole menu vegetarian Italian – great pizzas and pasta

The Britannia Inn – Elterwater – serve food all day (good idea to go when sunny; not much room inside)
·
Kirkstone Galleries at Skelwith Bridge – cream teas and cakes
·
The Queen's Head – Troutbeck – only a 15 minute walk from the Lodge
·
The Three Shires Inn – Little Langdale – pub food and great chips
·
Tower Bank Arms – Near Sawrey, National Trust Pub next to Beatrix Potters House
·
The Mortal Man – Troutbeck – some posh food but also a children’s menu and very near Lodge
·
Travellers Rest- Glenridding – excellent cheesy chips
·
Two Fish and chip shops in Ambleside. We like the one near the park best and there is another closer one called the Little Chippy in Windermere. Its really nice and always busy.
ICE CREAMS AND SWEET SHOPS
The Old Bank House sweetshop in Ambleside – sells all the Jelly Belly flavours!
The ice cream van in the White Moss Common carpark near Rydal Water. It is there every single day!
The Little Sweet Shop on the main street in  Windermere village has a whole wall of sweets in jars to choose from.
The Waterhead Coffee shop by the Windermere steamer jetty for chocolate covered ice cream cones.
